President Elect Candidate(s)
Michael Young

A significant part of Michael’s career was spent in the financial industry, starting with an operations position at the National Bank of Detroit and culminating as a First Vice President at Standard Federal Bank, which later merged with LaSalle Bank / Bank of America.  His financial background involved more than 25 years of operations experience, encompassing the management of over one hundred employees and several bank vendor relationships.

Michael is a lifelong resident of South Eastern Michigan.  Coupled with his financial experience, this provides a unique perspective on the client/customer relationship required in the Real Estate Market.  Now, with over sixteen years of Real Estate experience, his current sales position at H W Realty LLC allows him to serve the Lapeer, Genesee, and Oakland County markets in a manner that promotes positive economic and community growth.

Michael has served on the LUTAR Board for over ten years and is currently serving as the Realcomp President.

The Lapeer and Upper Thumb Association of Realtors represent each of us in our daily business activity. The Board of Directors is responsible for how the day-to-day activity impacts the members.  They are also responsible for setting the short and long term goals of the Association, how to meet those goals and how they impact each of us. Board members must remain business neutral and work for the common good of all members and associate members. I feel my prior experience with project management and long term planning is a valuable asset to the board and all members of the association.

Shelley Watson

I have been a resident of Lapeer for nearly 20 years. As a full time, wife and mother of 2, I began working in the field of real estate as a Property Manager several years ago, became an unlicensed assistant while I worked toward obtaining my real estate license, and I won the LUTAR Rookie of the Year award my first year in real estate.  Since that time, I won many awards including Top Producer for Exit Realty Group, Top 100 Club for Exit Realty International, and consistently earned the Top 5 in Michigan award for both listings and sales for several years in a row.  My passion for real estate has driven me to also focus my attention on the industry as a whole.  I have served on the Lapeer and Upper Thumb Association of Realtors Board of Directors for several years as Secretary, Treasurer, President and Past President.  I also currently serve on the Professional Standards Committee, as well as the Board of Governors representing our Shareholder’s interest in Realcomp. My community is also very important to me, and I have been active in the participation of a Habitat for Humanity build, as well as other volunteer activities.  I put 110% into everything I do and would therefore make an excellent choice to serve on the LUTAR board.
